On May 24, the 5th graders took part in an intellectual Russian language tournament. This event was a report on the course “Entertaining Grammar”, which was taught during the year by Russian Language and Literature teachers Irina Potredyonnaya and Valeriya Solovyova.
The three teams prepared a name and slogan. The children showed clear answers to the linguistic guessing questions, found semantic differences of the words: Indian – Turkey, Korean – Loin, Swiss – Doorman, chose a Russian variant to a foreign proverb, turned ‘a wolf into a goat’. and ‘night into day’, replacing one letter in every following word.
Captains’ competition demonstrated excellent knowledge and erudition of participants. Emiliya Misheikis (5C), Yelizaveta Baibuz (5A), Alan Tigay (5B) composed the sentence where all words (main and auxiliary parts of speech) beginning with one and the same letter and gathered words from the offered letters and syllables.
The fans did not get bored either: they guessed the words, let out “Pair” (they found words beginning with this combination of letters), watched a funny video clip from a newsreel “Jumble”.
So, the Word Festival was a success.
The jury consisted of students from senior pupils (9-10th forms) summed up.
